New Home for Injured Marine

Saturday morning, July 19, 2014 a group of us attend and volunteered at the groundbreaking ceremony for Sgt. Luis Remache in Manorville. Homes for our Troops, a not for profit organization is building a handicapped accessible home for Sgt. Remache and his wife.  Marine Sergeant Luis Remache was three months into his third deployment with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, when he lost both of his legs and sustained elbow, stomach, and hand damage in a firefight in Sangin, Afghanistan on June 29, 2011. While on an overnight mission off-post, a grenade blast and small arms fire caused the traumatic amputations of both of Sgt Remache’s legs above the knees, severe stomach lacerations, and severely injured his right elbow and both hands. SCHF looks forward to welcoming them to their new home!
