Missions Accomplished                                                               

Suffolk County Homefront, Inc was established in June 2007. Since that time, at least 90% of donated monies have been used in support of our mission as is listed below  A very small percentage of our funds are utilized to cover operating expenses.

Through the generous donations we have received, we have been able to support or deployed residents and veterans in the following ways: 

  • July 2016- Paid an auto repair shop $1500.00 for an Army veteran to get much needed work done to his vehicle so it would pass inspection. He needed the vehicle to get back and forth to a new job.

  • April 2016- Paid $1000.00 rent to a landlord for an elderly Korean War veteran who had fallen behind due to unforseen medical expenses.
    February 2016-
    Donated $500.00 to a disabled Navy Veteran who needed to replace a dryer after an unexpected breakdown.

  • January 2016- Donated $500.00 to a service member and his family, after their home and belongings were destroyed by fire. 

  • November 2015- In honor of Veterans Day, SCHF distributed 30 gift cards for JR's Steakhouse to veteran's living in a group home who have limited finances.  

  • August 2015- For the 5th year in a row, SCHF made a $500.00 donation to the 106th Rescue Wing's Galaxy Camp for the children of the members of that base.

  • June 2015- Paid $250.00 to an ambulette company to transport a veteran from the nursing home he was staying in to an important family function, where no other transportation accommodations could be made. The family was unable to afford the transport fee.

  • April 2015- Paid $1100.00 in rent to the landlord of an Army National Guardsman who was having financial difficulty due to a medical hardship.

  • February 2015- We donated $200.00 in gasoline gift cards to an Army Spc. who was experiencing financial difficulty.

  • December 13, 2014 - Suffolk County Homefront members, along with Wreaths Across America visited Calverton National Cemetery to place wreaths on graves.   SCHF purchased 20 wreaths and chose to honor our family members, friends and some local service members KIA.  We had a nice group of volunteers that turned out on a chilly December morning to show their support and help us honor our deceased heroes. We look forward to making this an annual tradition for SCHF! 

  • July 10, 2014- Donated $750.00 to SSGT Brian Fox and his family after they lost their home and all of their belongings in a house fire. 

  • June 2014- Donated $750.00 to the 106th Rescue Wing Galaxy Camp 

  • April 13, 2014- SCHF members and two volunteer contractors completed a building project for a Vietnam Veteran suffering from Parkinson's disease

  • November 2013- SCHF paid $1400.00 to the bank of an Army National Guardsman whose vehicle was about to be repossessed. 

  • August 2013-Donated $500.00 to the 106th Rescue Wing Family Readiness Group in support of their children's  Galaxy Summer Camp.   

  • May 2013- Donated money to the widow and child of a young Marine who completed his tour of duty and then lost his life to cancer.  

  • April 2013-Donated $900.00 to a local veteran who needed financial assistance to get into an apartment.

  • November 2012- In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we donated money to a deployed soldiers family who lost their home and belongings in the storm.

  • August 2012- Sent a box of American flags to a service member in Afghanistan whose unit flew the flags on special missions and presented them to injured troops.

  • July 2012- At the request of a service member in Afghanistan, we shipped 25 soccer balls to be distributed to children in a nearby village and used in a clinic. We also purchased Ice Sheets for another service member and his unit to help them deal with the extreme heat in Afghanistan.

  • June 2012- Purchased several cases of water and food supplies in support of Round Island Row, a group of four men who rowed a boat around Long Island to raise money and awareness for veterans causes

  • March 2012-  Donated $500.00 to 1Lt. James Byler of Huntington who was severely injured in Afghanistan.  We also assisted the members of Copiague VFW with a massive pack out of supplies to send to the troops in Afghanistan. 

  • January 2012-  Secured employment for a veteran who had been out of work for over a year.

  • December 2011- Purchased $300.00 in grocery cards and $200.00 in gas cards for a financially strapped service member.

  • November 2011- Paid 2 months of rent for a service member to save them from eviction and homelessness.

  • July 2011- Through donated funds, SCHF covered the security deposit and associated fees for a resident Veteran seeking housing.  Additionally, we provided him with some basic, essential furnishings.

  • August 2010- Sent members to volunteer at the 106th Rescue Wing Galaxy Camp for military children and supplied ice cream for their final BBQ..

  • December 2009- Purchased individual gifts for all of the residents at The Vets Place in Yaphank and presented them at their holiday party

  • October 2009- Purchased 20 tickets for residents of The Vets Place in Yaphank to attend the Vets Rock Concert at Brookhaven Amphitheater in Farmingville.

  • August 2009- Purchased 100 American Flags to be distributed to injured troops at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan.

  • June 2009 - Purchase of six megaphones and 9 volt batteries (donated by Dantona Industries, Wantagh N.Y.) shipped to 455 Expeditionary Security Force Squadron Bagram Air Field Afghanistan.

  • December 2008- Shipment of Holiday packages.

  • October 2008- Purchase of Gortex Desert Rank Insigne's and Fleece skull caps (donated by ROTHCO Supply Co. Ronkonkoma, NY) for 106th Rescue Wing, Westhampton, N.Y.

  • August 2008- Purchase of high powered rechargeable spotlights, batteries and bulbs for SECFOR Charlie 101 CAV, Camp Hughie Iraq

  • July 2008- Cash donation toward the home renovation of Cpl Chris Levi

  • June 2008- Purchase of 150 bottles of Avon Bug Guard shipped to Iraq in assorted care packages.

  • May 2008- Visit to Holbrook resident Cpl Christopher Levi at Walter Reed Army Medical Center  bringing him morale items for his rehabilitation

  • March 2008- Cash donation to State Veterans Home at Stony Brook and donation of supplies for recreational therapy program..

  • Purchase of 50 Phoenix IR-14 Beacon's for the 69th Infantry, BayShore N.Y. deploying to Iraq

  • Purchase of 20 Elvex Clear Lens Safety Glasses for 332 EMXS/TA Balad Air Base, Iraq

  • December 2007- Shipment of Holiday packages
